One question we sometimes get asked is should I leave my hot tub on all the time? The answer is yes! Hot tubs are designed to be left on permanently and this is how they work best. Of course, they'll need to be drained regularly but for the most part, they are left on 24/7. A hot tub will automatically start at preset intervals to mix the water and keep the costs down. | |||
* | How long after shocking it can I use it? | ||
There isn't a set period you need to wait before using your hot tub after a shock treatment, however, it is essential to test the water to ensure the chlorine levels are safe. Recommendations vary with ranges between 20 minutes and 24 hours. | |||

Everyone is different so its a personal thing. Somewhere around 30 C is comfortable to start with. | |||
* | What should I not do in a hot tub? | ||

If you are using the 2-part bromine sanitizing system such as Rendezvous Enhance and Activate, it is recommended that you shock each time you finish using your spa. If you are using chlorine or bromine tablets, it is recommended that you shock at least one time per week. | |||
* | What is the difference in chlorine and spa shock? | ||
The reason that DiChlor shock is used in spas, is that DiChlor is more stable at higher temperatures and has a near neutral pH level. Spa shocks are particularly fine, more of a powder than a granular, so that they dissolve quickly. All 4 of the chlorine hot tub shocks are 56% Available Chlorine. | |||

If your use pattern is less often, and/or your spa is not insulated to a very high standard, then you are much better off turning it off between use. Note: In the winter, because of the risk of freeze damage if the spa is not being heated, it should be completely drained if you are switching the heat off. | |||
